Perhaps you will dribble twice, follow up by bending your knees, pulling your earlobe or performing some other ritualistic action for good luck. Just remember it has to be fast and consistent. The reason is, this routine will put your body on alert that the next thing coming is a free throw. This will help insure your success.

The NASCAR Busch Series features cars which differ from those in other NASCAR series in several important ways. First, they are smaller, better at coping with the tighter curves of the track. Concern has been expressed over the environmental damage this has caused, and NASCAR is researching the possibility of using only unleaded fuel in the cars in the Busch Series, working to determine how it will affect performance. This is no doubt due to many factors, one of which is the ease of learning and performing stunts that would be difficult or impossible without the assistance afforded by the apparatus. This very fact, however, causes the apparatus to be potentially dangerous. A boy can get "over his head" fairly easily so supervision should always be conspicuous. A good overall safety policy is for the student to check the prerequisites with the instructor, thus satisfying the instructor that he is ready to attempt the next stunt sequence.
It is suggested that a minimum of four spotters be posted at all times that the tramp is in use. Spotters must be alert and keep the performer on the tramp. There are occasions when it is obviously best to help the performer off the tramp by helping him maintain balance, but most often the spotters' task is to keep the performer from falling off the tramp. It is recommended that the tramp be folded and locked when supervision is not available.

MAJOR CUES: Flex your legs as you start to rise from the bottom of your bounce. The eyes should be focused on a spot at the end of the tramp. Control is the objective - not height. As you contact the tramp, force your arms down so you can drop deeper into the tramp; thus the tramp will throw you higher.
TEACHING PROCEDURES: Usually bouncing comes naturally; however, the separation of the feet just as contact is made with the tramp to a distance of twelve to eighteen inches is sometimes a problem. The major difficulty is the use of the arms. Generally the arms are used to aid in attaining height and to maintain balance. To attain height the arms are lifted quickly as one rises from the bottom of the bounce.
This arm lift is, of course, coordinated with the leg spring. The arm lift is usually forward and to the side with the arms slightly bent. Some movement of the arms is essential if balance is to be maintained during flight. The higher the bounce, the more arm movement is required for balance purposes. Nothing makes dancing more fatiguing and difficult than absence of balance and an awkward, vulgar position. No man can lead efficiently if bending too far back, as this throws the body out of line, and no woman can move gracefully and follow the changes of figures who has not unrestricted freedom of movement.
The right hand of the man should never pass higher than the waist of the lady and should only rest there lightly, as the guiding is done through the right arm which is slightly raised to support the lady and present a more graceful appearance.
His left arm should be raised to the extent of describing a right angle from the body with the elbow slightly bent. Leading is done with either hand; in turning to the left, the left hand guides and the right supports, and the right hand turns are indicated by the right arm. Why are Nike and the rest of them standing by Tiger? What kind of message are they sending? Tiger screwed up and needs to learn the hard way not to do it again. If he truly were private, he would not have been chasing and carousing and cheating on his wife. And it wasn't just us. The PGA Tour jumped on board with both feet. And now they've got a problem: A Tiger Woods Scorched Earth Tour with no Tiger Woods. "You can't ever build your whole house on one brick," said PGA Tour star Tom Lehman. "That's what the Tour did. You can't really blame them. It's kind of a Catch-22. You can have a guy that is SO good and makes things SO much better, it's like everybody else doesn't exist. But now what? The Tour has to try to market some of the other really good players it has. It has to try to build a house of cards that doesn't fall apart when one card falls, but I don't know. It might be too late."

Story of the decade? Hardly.
It's one of the damndest things I've ever seen. When has an athlete ever free-fallen from so high to so low so fast? Does "never" ring a bell? It's the equivalent of catching Bing Crosby in a drag bar.
Ten more questions before we get to the Woods mail, which has made the mail in "Miracle on 34th Street" look like a slow Tuesday in August:
1. How did he get caught?
Being cheap. Everybody knows Tiger has a reputation for being cheap as single-ply toilet paper. He had an affair with Los Angeles cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs for more than 31 months, according to Grubbs. It was on her phone that a voice sounding a lot like Woods left the infamous "Take your name off your voicemail" message. That message became public when Grubbs gave it to US Weekly magazine, for a reported $150,000. Billionaire Philandering 101 tells you to set your mistress up in an apartment, set her up with a salary, keep her happy and quiet. By all accounts, Woods didn't do that. Another woman, Jamie Jungers, told the News of the World that Woods didn't tip and that once, when she asked for money when things got tight, he refused. Next thing you know, she's on the "Today Show" and "Dateline" spilling secrets. A few hundred thou saved here, a few hundred mil lost there.
2. Would you agree that when a porn actress such as Holly Sampson comes out and says (in a widely-viewed online video) that yes, she did have sex with you at your bachelor party but that she was not a "mistress" -- thus trying to distance herself from the whole scandal -- you've hit rock bottom?
I hope so.
3. Do you agree with sports writers who call this the No. 1 sports story of the decade?
No. The No. 1 sports story of the decade was Tiger Woods winning all four majors in a row (Tiger Slam No. 1). And if it wasn't that, it was Lance Armstrong overcoming 14 tumors to win seven straight Tour de Frances. And if it wasn't that, it was Michael Phelps winning 14 gold medals over two Olympics. Because if we're going to let a guy cheating on his wife overtake those three unthinkable achievements, then we really aren't sports fans after all.
4. Where is the world's most famous athlete anyway?

It's one of the damndest things I've ever seen. When has an athlete ever free-fallen from so high to so low so fast? Does "never" ring a bell? It's the equivalent of catching Bing Crosby in a drag bar.
Ten more questions before we get to the Woods mail, which has made the mail in "Miracle on 34th Street" look like a slow Tuesday in August:
1. How did he get caught?
Being cheap. Everybody knows Tiger has a reputation for being cheap as single-ply toilet paper. He had an affair with Los Angeles cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs for more than 31 months, according to Grubbs. It was on her phone that a voice sounding a lot like Woods left the infamous "Take your name off your voicemail" message. That message became public when Grubbs gave it to US Weekly magazine, for a reported $150,000. Billionaire Philandering 101 tells you to set your mistress up in an apartment, set her up with a salary, keep her happy and quiet. By all accounts, Woods didn't do that. Another woman, Jamie Jungers, told the News of the World that Woods didn't tip and that once, when she asked for money when things got tight, he refused. Next thing you know, she's on the "Today Show" and "Dateline" spilling secrets. A few hundred thou saved here, a few hundred mil lost there.
2. Would you agree that when a porn actress such as Holly Sampson comes out and says (in a widely-viewed online video) that yes, she did have sex with you at your bachelor party but that she was not a "mistress" -- thus trying to distance herself from the whole scandal -- you've hit rock bottom?
I hope so.
3. Do you agree with sports writers who call this the No. 1 sports story of the decade?
No. The No. 1 sports story of the decade was Tiger Woods winning all four majors in a row (Tiger Slam No. 1). And if it wasn't that, it was Lance Armstrong overcoming 14 tumors to win seven straight Tour de Frances. And if it wasn't that, it was Michael Phelps winning 14 gold medals over two Olympics. Because if we're going to let a guy cheating on his wife overtake those three unthinkable achievements, then we really aren't sports fans after all.
4. Where is the world's most famous athlete anyway?

The choice is clear
Despite their hometown allegiance, Archie (left) and Cooper (middle) ain't rooting for the Saints.
This Super Bowl is stickier than a pecan roll for the Manning family of New Orleans.
Even though one of the sons, Peyton, belongs to legend, and one of the sons belongs to the New York Giants, the rest of their hearts belong to the local NFL franchise, the Saints. Most of them have been Saints fans since they could shuck a crawdad.
"I remember one year," says the father, Archie, who was the Saints' quarterback for 12 years, "we were something like 0-11. It was a home game. Olivia [his wife] was up in the stands, pregnant with Eli. Everybody was booing us like crazy. And the boys turned to Olivia and said, 'Can we boo, too, Mom?' I think that's about when she shut it down. No more Saints games that year."
But the Mannings stuck with their mangy, suffering Saints, through thick and thin -- mostly thin. This is a team that's had nine winning seasons in 43. Cooper, the oldest, once put an 'Aints paper bag over his head when he was 5.
"My mom wasn't too happy about that," says Cooper, now 35 and a partner at an energy investment firm. "I think I was just doing what everybody else was doing."
These days in New Orleans, what everybody else is doing is going bazooka nuts over the Saints and their first Super Bowl in their starved history.
Except the Mannings, of course. They suddenly find themselves as the black hats. Peyton and his Indianapolis Colts stand between the Saints and the greatest parade in the history of the freaking world.
"I'm trying to suck whatever joy I can out of this thing," says Cooper Manning. "But it's kinda like eating a hot, raw, 30-year-old oyster."
Can you imagine? A Super Bowl parade in New Orleans? It would make Mardi Gras look like two boys pulling a beagle in a wagon.
"Oh, Lord," Archie says. "I can't imagine. This is a city that lives for parades. This is a city that practically invented parades."
So if the Saints beat the Colts, would he go?
"Uh, probably not."
Imagine Cooper's plight. The card of the family, he's been a manic Saints fan since birth. He's also a buddy of Saints QB Drew Brees. They golf together, fish together, go to dinner with the wives, movies, the whole program.
Cooper reached out to Brees when the ex-Charger signed with the Saints nearly four years ago. "Sometimes a guy needs a pal out of the locker room," Cooper says.
Cooper showed him the best hole-in-the-wall joints to eat, "places where you're sure you've taken a wrong turn," he says, like Jacques-Imo's and Casamento's and Irene's. Told him where the best neighborhoods were to live, the best schools. He was kind of Brees' human Zagat's. Hell, Brees' wife, Brittany, works out routinely with Olivia and Cooper's wife, Ellen, at their health club.
And now, with his favorite team at the very keyhole of paradise, he looks over and sees that it's playing his dang brother.
"I'm trying to suck whatever joy I can out of this thing," says Cooper, whose wife is also from New Orleans. "But it's kinda like eating a hot, raw, 30-year-old oyster. I don't like it when Peyton plays Eli, and I don't like this."
It's not going to be an easy week for Archie, either. He's known Brees since a teenage version of Brees approached Archie after he did a speech in Austin, Texas. To this day, they text each other often. "When Drew was with Purdue," Archie says, "he'd drive down once in a while and go see about Peyton [in the Colts locker room] after the game."
Don't get them wrong. They're rooting for Peyton. But it's like trying to decide which of your toes you'd like lopped off.
"Drew and I are still gonna be friends after," Cooper says. "But I know if it was me playing his brother, he'd pull for his brother. I guess I just wish Peyton were playing someone else."
Me, I wish Peyton were doing a quick stint at Sing Sing. I'm pulling for the Saints. Nothing against the Mannings. They're just about the nicest family in the NFL. It's just that:
1. The Colts already have one.
2. Indianapolis stole its team. New Orleans got stuck with the Saints.
3. The Mannings already have two Super Bowl rings. Admit it. Don't you get just a little tired of being happy for the Mannings? Brees, meanwhile, has none. He's a little guy with a big heart who lost his mom this past summer. He deserves a break.
4. To have something so joyous come out of the Superdome might push back a little further the utter squalor there nearly five years ago.
5. I REALLY want to see that parade.
In summary, you must either have had your heart removed by corn tongs or be in the Manning family if you're not pulling for the Saints. Betting on them? You must've had your brain removed.
"Yeah, it's kind of a bummer about the Saints," Archie says. "But you know, it's a good organization. The Saints will go again."
If that sounded like a prediction, it was.
